Hold a key. Speak. It's typed.

Keebye is push-to-talk dictation for macOS. Hold Right ⌘, say the thing, release — and the text lands in whichever app has focus, including your terminal. Speech-to-text runs entirely on your Mac.

Four things it does on your Mac

No wake word, no cloud transcription, no model deciding what you meant. Every step below runs locally.

Illustration

Hold to talk, tap to toggle

The microphone is live exactly while you hold the hotkey — Right ⌘ by default, Fn or Right ⌥ if you prefer. Tap once for a longer dictation. Esc cancels.

Illustration

Lands in the terminal, too

Keebye pastes into the focused app with terminal-aware chunking. Turn on synthetic typing and it works over SSH, inside tmux, and on non-QWERTY layouts.

Say it messy. It lands clean.

Fillers, false starts and doubled words are stripped by deterministic rules. An optional polish pass runs a local LLM — also entirely on-device.

25 languages. Your jargon, spelled right.

The default engine is English-tuned; opt into Canary for 25 languages or use Apple's native engine. A custom dictionary teaches Keebye your product names once.

Works wherever you can type

Keebye inserts text into the focused app. These are the places it gets used most.

Dictation for Terminal

Built for people who live in a terminal

Everything runs on your machine. Everything is a deliberate design decision.

Audio never leaves your Mac

Speech-to-text runs on-device. The network is used to download models, check for updates and confirm your plan — never to send audio. No telemetry, either.

Dictate in 25 languages

The default English-tuned engine is fast. Opt into the multilingual Canary engine for exactly 25 languages, pin one for your next utterance, or use Apple's native engine in your system language.

Local history and a custom dictionary

Every transcript is kept as text only, on disk, on your machine, and auto-deletes after 30 days. Teach Keebye your product names and acronyms once; every transcript after that gets them right.

On-device, by design

Quiet where it should be, careful where it must be

Illustration

Before and after cleanup

Drag the handle. Left is what you said; right is what lands. No model decides what you meant — turn cleanup off and you get every word verbatim.

Illustration

Works offline

Once a speech model is downloaded, transcription runs without an internet connection. Planes, trains and flaky hotel Wi-Fi are fine.

Refuses password fields

Keebye will not type into secure text fields. If the focused field is a password prompt, nothing is inserted.

Questions, answered plainly

What people ask before they hold the key for the first time

No. All speech-to-text engines run on-device. The network is used to download models, check for app updates, and confirm your trial or plan — never to send audio.

Yes. Once a speech model is downloaded, transcription runs locally without an internet connection.

The default engine is English-tuned. Switch to the multilingual Canary engine for 25 languages — including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Romanian, Polish, and Ukrainian — or use Apple's native engine in your system language.

Anything that accepts text. Keebye inserts by pasting or by synthetic typing into the focused app, with terminal-aware handling for apps like iTerm2 and Warp — and typing-mode insertion works inside tmux and SSH sessions. It deliberately refuses secure password fields.

Transcription runs in one pass when you release the hotkey — there is no live word-by-word stream. Prompt-sized utterances land quickly on Apple Silicon, though the very first dictation after launch can be slower while the microphone and model warm up.

No. There's no telemetry and no analytics, and audio is processed on-device — never uploaded. Your dictation history is stored locally as text only and auto-deletes after 30 days.

You can — Keebye can even run on Apple's engine. What Keebye adds is the workflow: a hold-or-tap push-to-talk key, terminal-aware insertion that works over SSH and tmux, a custom dictionary for your project's jargon, and rule-based cleanup with an optional on-device LLM polish pass.

The whole app, after the 14-day trial: every model, every feature, every future update. Pro and Lifetime are the same full product — the only difference is how you pay. Paying is what keeps Keebye developed.

No — Keebye is a paid app with a 14-day full-featured free trial, no card required. The trial starts the first time you sign in from the app, not when you create your account. We'd rather give you the whole product for two weeks than a metered version forever.

macOS today. A Windows port exists in the codebase but hasn't shipped a build yet, so we don't advertise it.

When your trial ends, you can't start a new dictation until a paid plan is active — anything already in progress can finish. There's no surprise charge: the trial takes no card, so doing nothing costs nothing. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime and run to the end of the billing period.

Keebye is in early access. Create an account to claim your spot — your 14-day free trial starts the first time you sign in from the app, and we'll let you know the moment the macOS build is ready to download.

One voice, a fleet of agents

Keebye is built for the workflow the AI Entrepreneur path calls commanding the fleet: one engineer running parallel agent lanes instead of typing into each one. The dictation tool is this site. The full playbook — from paycheck bridge to shipping production AI — lives at AIESCU.
