Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

Keebye is built so that your voice stays on your Mac. This policy explains what the Keebye desktop app and the keebye.com website (together, the “Service”) process, what they never collect, and the choices you have.

1. The short version

  • Speech is transcribed on your device. Your audio never leaves your Mac.
  • The app sends no telemetry or usage analytics.
  • Your transcription history is stored locally on your Mac, as text only, and auto-deletes after 30 days.
  • We only hold what your account needs: email, name, and plan.

2. What the app processes on your device

Transcription runs entirely on-device, and works offline once a speech model is downloaded. Dictated text is inserted into the app you are using; the desktop app also keeps a local, text-only history so you can recover recent dictations. That history never leaves your Mac, auto-deletes after 30 days, and can be cleared at any time in the app. The app refuses to type into password and other secure fields.

3. Account data we collect

Using the app requires signing in. When you sign in with Google or an email code, our authentication backend stores your email address, your name (if provided), and your plan so the app can confirm who you are and what plan you are on. If you buy a paid plan, payment will be handled by our payment processor; we do not store your card details.

4. Website analytics

The keebye.com website (not the app) uses Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. These tools may set cookies or collect standard web request data (pages visited, browser type, approximate location derived from IP).

5. How we use information

  • to authenticate you and keep you signed in to the app;
  • to know which plan features your account is entitled to;
  • to send account-related email, such as sign-in codes;
  • to understand website traffic in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

6. Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when your account is deleted. Your local transcription history lives only on your Mac and auto-deletes after 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise them — or to delete your account — contact us via GitHub. Local data on your Mac is under your control in the app.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and its “last updated” date.
