Keebye vs VoiceInk: Compare Your Mac Dictation Workflow

Both tools belong on a Mac dictation shortlist. We build Keebye; this is a workflow comparison, not a head-to-head benchmark. VoiceInk documentation was checked on 9 September 2026. We have not measured comparative speed or accuracy.

What should you compare first?

VoiceInk's introduction documents local models, optional cloud providers, app-specific modes, and a personal dictionary. Local speech processing alone does not distinguish Keebye from VoiceInk. Check the selected transcription and enhancement settings separately before dictating sensitive material.

Keebye inserts a completed transcript into the focused app. Its existing dictionary applies configured replacements; it does not guarantee that every identifier will be recognized correctly. Which tasks reveal the differences?

Use the same non-sensitive prompt, microphone, destination, and correction standard in each app. These are evaluation tasks, not reported test results.

Time capture, processing, insertion, and corrections yourself. Speaking rate alone cannot establish which app finishes your task sooner.

When might VoiceInk fit better?

VoiceInk's documented modes may suit you if you want different settings by app or website, or output that is pasted, auto-sent, or shown as an assistant response. Test those options against your actual writing tasks. If your existing setup already works, switching needs a concrete benefit.

When might Keebye fit better?

Try Keebye if you want to focus a terminal, speak a prompt, review the inserted text, and move to the next lane. Its paste/type choice is worth testing in your own SSH or tmux setup. History is text-only, local, and pruned after 30 days; it is not an audio archive or permanent backup.

Keebye transcribes after recording ends. Neither dictionary replacements nor cleanup remove the need to review names and instructions. This comparison makes no claim about unreleased features.
